Stanley Greene (1949-2017) was a legendary figure in photojournalism whose work was marked by rebellion and the denunciation of political and social violence. His taste for risk led him, from the late 1980s onward, to numerous theaters of armed conflict: Rwanda, the Balkans, Kosovo, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, and especially Chechnya, a major focus of his work. This book offers a fascinating insight into his images and paints a compelling portrait of the photographer through the testimonies of his close friends and family and quotes from his own writings.
