In the year 2000, soon after the development of electronic trading, three national stock exchanges took a leap into the unknown, joining together to create the first cross borderexchange in Europe. From this ambitious beginning, Euronext was created, and has gone on to become Europe's leading capital market infrastructure.
After its pioneering start, the company encountered bold successes as well as significant challenges, including a changing regulatory landscape, aggressive competition and a diffcult economic environment. These diverse challenges have played a crucial role in shaping both the history and culture of Euronext, just as much as the company's major achievements.
